Erik(A)
1:00 pm
Kurt Mayer
In 1967, an instituted gender check changed Erika Schinegger’s life
forever. Erik(a) was raised as a girl in a small Austrian town in the Alps and became the Women’s World Downhill Skiing champion in 1966.
She was declared a biological man and decided to undergo gender completion surgery to become a man.
The doc shows Erik take on his own stereotypes of what it is to be man: he gets married, becomes a father, drives fast cars - is this what it really is like to be Erik? It takes determination, and many years, for Erik to become the man he truly is.
